Denver police arrested 21-year-old David Cano-Rivera yesterday in connection with a shooting at El Chaparral nightclub on West 6th Avenue that left a security guard dead and another guard in a hospital bed. The shooting happened in the early hours on Wednesday as security guards were breaking up a fight inside the club. A man pulled out a handgun and shot a guard before hopping into a sports car and firing several more shots, hitting a second security guard, before fleeing. The second guard, who was transported to Denver Health Medical Center, is listed in serious condition. Police also issued a warrant for Heber Santiago Godoy, 20, on charges of murder and assault, Detective Sharon D. Avendaño tells 7News. The names of the victims have not been released, according to 9News.
