These days, Denver’s City Park is enjoying a renaissance that at night is most evident in the brilliant light displays of the fountain in the middle of Ferril Lake, as 5280 wrote last month. But the Darlington Prismatic Electric Fountain was hit by lightning last week and will remain shut down until Control Dimensions, a company that helped renovate the old fountain for $3.2 million, can determine what needs to be done, according to The Denver Post. The fountain was constructed in 1908, prior to the city’s Democratic National Convention. Last year, for the city’s second DNC, it was repaired and updated with computer software, LED lights, and a system that improves the water for fish.
