If you’re unemployed and tried to file for state benefits over the weekend or on Monday, you probably had no luck thanks to computer problems, reports the Denver Business Journal. The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment’s CUBline Online system has crashed repeatedly over several days, leaving thousands of people without assistance, as the state works to rectify the problem. Lynn Burton, a former editor for the Aspen Daily News, tells The Denver Post of attempts to update a claim by phoning in to the automated phone system yesterday: “In 10 minutes, I got a busy signal 25 or 30 times. I gave up and came back around 11 a.m. and did the same thing for about 10 minutes and I got another 25 or 30 busy signals.” Some 160,000 people in the state receive unemployment benefits and must update their claims every other week. State employment office officials say anyone having trouble renewing a claim should call 303-813-2800. People trying to make a new claim should call 303-318-9123.
