Officials might shoot coyotes in Greenwood Village, but they won’t do it in Colorado Springs–although not out of some kind of consideration for ethics or compassion for the animals that more than ever before seem to be popping up in cities along the Front Range (or maybe just onto the nightly news). No, the Colorado Springs City Council simply doesn’t have time to consider a proposal that would have given residents permits to gun down coyotes within city limits, according to the Colorado Springs Gazette. As News 5/30 points out, it is currently illegal to fire a gun within city limits and the Colorado Division of Wildlife reports no increase in local calls related to coyote attacks. Moreover, there are no documented cases of a coyote biting a person in Colorado Springs for several years.
