A lot of negative and ego-driven drama has come from the Denver Broncos this off-season, but there’s at least one feel-good moment now: the case of former Niwot High School star Matt McChesney, who is battling for a backup offensive-line spot on the team.

McChesney, who was also a standout CU Buffaloes defensive lineman, is entering his fifth National Football League season having bounced around, writes the Longmont Times-Call. He’s played for the St. Louis Rams, the New York Jets, the Miami Dolphins, and even the Frankfurt Galaxy of NFL Europa. Now he’s back in Denver, and although he may be a long shot, he’s a good protagonist to cheer on in his attempts at achieving his childhood dream.

As for the players who definitely won’t be playing in orange and blue this fall: Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler tells the Virginia-Pilot that he could have played his entire career in Denver: “I went to the Pro Bowl last year, and you’d think that’s probably gonna be the place where you’re gonna stay the rest of your career. So it’s funny how things work out.” Indeed.
