How to Avoid the Denver Water Scam

logo If a man comes to your door claiming to be a Denver Water inspector, take a long, hard look. Is the “inspector” wearing a uniform? Is there a vehicle nearby with a Denver Water logo on it? If you’re still not sure, ask for identification and remember that you can always call police, Denver Water officials warn after a con artist tried, but failed, to enter a customer’s home on Monday (via 9News). In the past, crooks have talked their way into people’s homes using excuses such as the need to check water pressure or quality, according to Denver Water. But what they’re really after is cash and other valuables. Keep in mind that Denver Water employees don’t conduct random inspections or collect money on-site, writes The Denver Post.
