mcnamara-robertRobert McNamara, the Vietnam War-era defense secretary who died yesterday, loved to immerse himself in the beauty of Colorado. He spent summers in Snowmass, near Aspen, where he scattered the ashes of his first wife, according to The Washington Post.

Meanwhile, another lover of Colorado, Scott McInnis, a Republican contender for governor, is getting dinged for his campaign’s inability to properly identify the state’s geography. His campaign’s website recently featured a grand mountain peak and the words, “What do you want for the future of Colorado?” Problem is, as The Colorado Independent (and subsequently a Los Angeles Times blog) points out, the photo was of Lake Louise, deep in the Canadian Rockies.

The photo is no longer on the site.
