001U9000Pull up your iCal and make a note for August 2013. That’s when the Solheim Cup—the women’s equivalent to the men’s prestigious Ryder Cup in the world of golf—will be held in Colorado, according to The Associated Press.

Twelve professionals from the United States and 12 from Europe will gather at Colorado Golf Club in Parker for the event. Mike McGetrick, the club’s managing partner and a coach for LPGA stars like Juli Inkster (pictured), is getting the kudos for helping to introduce the tourney to the West.

“Mike has obviously been a friend of the LPGA for a long, long time and the players knew about the development,” Kelly Hyne, LPGA vice president in charge of the Solheim Cup, tells The Denver Post. “We’re really excited; we’ve never been west of the Mississippi River—it was time to let everyone see everything Colorado has to offer.”

This year’s Solheim is August 17-23 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois.
