Is Aaron Thompson Guilty?

By |

The case against Aaron Thompson—who is accused in the murder of his daughter, Aarone—could be tough for prosecutors to win. Authorities never recovered Aarone’s body. Moreover, as jury selection in Thompson’s trial began yesterday, it seemed Thompson’s defense had an option, including pointing the finger at Thompson’s dead partner, Shelley Lowe. Thompson, who maintains he is innocent, is facing 60 charges, including fatal child abuse and more than 50 years in prison if convicted, according to CBS4. Thompson’s six children and Lowe’s household are expected to testify during the trial. The Washington Times illustrates the contrasts between Aarone Thompson and JonBenet Ramsey: Both were age 6 the last time they were seen alive, but while JonBenet lived in an exclusive neighborhood and her disappearance was immediately noticed, Aarone lived in a cramped house in a lower-income part of Aurora. Aarone might have been missing for two years before authorities discovered that she was in late 2005. The Denver Post recently quoted Thompson’s estranged wife, Lynette Thompson, as saying of her husband, “He should have protected her… [T]hey did the inhumane thing, like burying her like roadkill.”
