After getting man-handled by the New York Mets at the beginning of their current road trip, the Colorado Rockies have now won four consecutive games, completing a three-game sweep of the Cincinnati Reds yesterday. Center fielder Dexter Fowler’s 11th-inning triple scored catcher Chris Iannetta and put the Rockies up for good (via MLB.com, with video of the play). Purple Row notes that this was the Rockies’ first extra-innings win of the season.

The game puts the Rockies at 58-47 heading into Tuesday night’s game against the World Series defending champion Philadelphia Phillies. The Rockies are still tied for the National League wild-card lead with the San Francisco Giants, who also won yesterday. The Giants have achieved success on solid pitching and a team chemistry that is markedly different from the days when Barry Bonds ruled the club house and created a prickly environment, as The New York Times points out.
