Drug agents had their hands full in the Pike National Forest yesterday, where they made two arrests and seized 14,500 marijuana plants that were growing about seven miles north of Deckers in Jefferson County. The bust, valued between $7 million and $14 million, was dubbed the “largest” in Colorado ever, according to 7News. Up to 10 migrant workers were camping in the area and caring for the crop, and both of the arrested suspects, whose names were not released, were wearing combat-style clothing. Assistant Special Agent in Charge Kevin Merrill of the Drug Enforcement Agency says, “Most plants were four to five feet, there were some six or seven footers.” It was the second bust in the Pike forest this year. The U.S. Forest Service will hold a press conference today to discuss the issue, reports The Associated Press.
