Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson writes, “If there’s been a more clinically insane political phenomenon in my lifetime than the ‘birthers,’ I’ve missed it. Is this what our national discourse has come to? Sheer paranoid fantasy?”

The birthers don’t believe Barack Obama was born in the United States, meaning he therefore cannot be president (the state of Hawaii has confirmed Obama was born there).

Yet KHOW talk-show host Peter Boyles wouldn’t agree with Robinson’s statements, joining Cory Gardner, a candidate for the 4th Congressional District seat held by Democrat Betsy Markey, in his doubt of the president’s birthplace. As Westword notes, Boyles is pushing to put up a billboard asking, “Where’s the Birth Certificate?” It wouldn’t be a first. The Washington Independent recently noted one reported billboard siting in Louisiana.

While Boyles’ birthers cred is rising, he’s still not the king of the issue. That honor goes to Glenn Beck, who recently enjoyed a birther rant with fellow talk-show host Rush Limbaugh.

“I fear this government, this administration has so much framework already prepared, that they will seize power overnight before anybody even gives it a second thought,” Beck said.

Maybe somebody should tell him that Obama and the Democrats already seized power of the government—in the November election last year.
