As the elegant, 42-story glass Spire skyscraper nears completion downtown, it is apparent that the economy has a bottom line—but also good taste. So far, the Spire’s best-selling are one-bedroom units of about 800 square feet. The cost of one starts at $210,000 and climbs to $260,000 for a 1,000-square-foot, two-bedroom unit. The Nichols Partnership Incorporated of Denver is nearly ready to move residents in, as construction workers put the finishing touches on interiors on the top floor, writes the Denver Business Journal. Since July, the partnership has sold 90 of the nearly 500 units, making company president and founder Randy Nichols proud: “We’ve been told by banks and Fannie Mae that we’ve probably sold more units than anyone else in the country.”
The Spire seems to have everything, including fiber-optic capability in each unit, WiFi access in common areas, even 50 flat-screen TVs around the building. The ninth floor boasts a common movie theater with surround sound, an exercise club, pools, hot tubs, and a sports bar (via Luxist). The project is seeking green certification and aims to get 100 percent of its energy from wind. It also claims features such as an environmentally friendly dry cleaner and a rental car facility packed with hybrids.
