fi_3aWith the average price of designer shoes topping $500 over the last few seasons, a hot topic of conversation is how to find well-priced, fashionable shoes on a walkable heel. Leave it to Elyse Burja of Strut to reintroduce Denverites to Italian shoe line Sciapo for fall. Launched in 2002, Sciapo melds traditional Italian handicraft production with contemporary design. Using the best raw materials and a 200-step process that dates back to the 1920s, a major emphasis is placed on comfort and attention to detail. This season, the Sciapo collection includes a well-edited selection of pumps, shoe booties, and knee-high boots, but my personal favorite is a dove gray, calf-length boot (pictured) with side frog closures and a wood heel. With its slightly ‘80s feel, this is a gorgeous alternative to fall’s over-the-knee boot trend (not an easy look to wear) and pairs well with a jersey dress or even a denim pencil skirt. 3611 W. 32nd Ave., 303-477-3361.
