800px-Toiletpapier_(Gobran111)Bill Ritter and his wife, Jeannie, woke up at the governor’s mansion on Thanksgiving Day to trees draped with toilet paper. Colorado’s first family had been TP-ed, an apparent first in the 101-year history of the Georgian revival home south of the state Capitol (via The Associated Press).

Ritter tells 9News the hit didn’t appear to be inspired by politics.

“I still have two kids at home that are teenagers,” he says, taking the prank in stride.

“It could well be that they have been honored with being TP-ed. It’s very likely it involves high school students but we won’t mention what their party affiliation might be,” adds the Democratic governor.

Mrs. Ritter cleaned up the mess, saying she was grateful the mansion hadn’t been egged.
