Happy Hour of the Week: The Fainting Goat

By |

While you might think the Fainting Goat Pub took its name from the viral YouTube videos, the lively roost was actually named after a regular who keeled over at Hopper’s Sports Grill, owner Mark Holland’s first bar.

The man had a case of walking pneumonia. Coughing fits inhibited his breathing and made him pass out, causing the chef to exclaim, “He went down just like a fainting goat.”

A year ago, when Holland was tossing around ideas for a second place, his memory of the swooner gave birth to a new pub, The Fainting Goat, which boasts a sizable, three-story dwelling, including an ample ground-floor wooden bar and a sweet rooftop patio and bar that are open in the summer.

Happy hour flows daily from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., with two-for-one deals on drafts and wells. Select appetizers are half-price, like fried pickles and Blarney sliders—flavorsome corned beef with Havarti cheese and scallions served on a pretzel bun.

You’re definitely in good company here, whether you want to watch a game, browse the Internet using their free Wi-Fi, shoot pool, play some Buck Hunter Safari, or simply sidle up for a few drinks.

Can’t make it for happy hour? The Fainting Goat has $2 Shiner Bock pints all day Saturday and $5 lunches Monday-Friday. They are open daily, 11 a.m.-2 a.m.
