Sheen, CharlieCharlie Sheen, the actor currently best known for his role on the popular CBS show “Two and a Half Men,” spent most of Christmas Day in jail after being arrested in a domestic violence incident in Aspen. Among the charges is class five felony menacing in which Sheen used an unspecified weapon in a threatening way (via The Associated Press). The story predictably lit up the celebrity-obsessed blogosphere over the weekend with too many reports to count, including at least one claiming that Sheen and his wife, real-estate investor Brooke Mueller Sheen, are planning to get marriage counseling. But that might not be so easy—at least not immediately. A judge put in place a mandatory protection order that prevents Sheen from contact with his wife, according to The Aspen Times, and Sheen isn’t due back in court until early February. Sheen’s plan was to catch a flight back to Los Angles shortly after his release on $8,500 bond.

Sheen’s publicist, Stan Rosenfield, says in a statement: “Appearance and reality can be as different as night and day. It would benefit everyone not to jump to any conclusion.” Yet, the rumor mill is already on overload, with plenty of leaping going on. TMZ, for instance, quoting unnamed sources, reports that a sober Sheen pulled a knife on his wife, who was legally drunk and has since “recanted much of her story.”
