Carter, JenniferThe former Denver elementary school secretary who sealed a student’s mouth with masking tape—apparently to silence him—and also bound the six-year-old’s hands, has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of child abuse. A charge of false imprisonment was dismissed against 46-year-old Jennifer Carter in exchange for the plea, according to The Denver Post. Carter will receive probation on a deferred sentence of 18 months for the incident at Palmer Elementary last October. As Westword writes, the sentence is “a reminder that binding and muzzling is never okay, even when kids do the darnedest things.”
