A poll by employment search engine Juju suggests it’s slightly harder to find a job in Denver than it was just a few months ago. But don’t get disheartened if you’re looking. The Mile High City is still considered above-average when it comes to job availability.

Denver has slipped to ninth place out of 50 U.S. cities in Juju’s newest Job Difficulty Index, notes the Denver Business Journal. The number one city for jobs is Washington, D.C., and Detroit falls in at number 50. Back in November, Denver was seventh on the index, which measures the ratio of jobless workers in a given city to online job openings. It slipped to eighth in both December and January before hitting ninth this month.

Moreover, the most recent Juju index of states ranks Colorado 10th, down from eighth in December. That could change as Governor Bill Ritter issues grant funding for communities in which energy and mineral production are important—a move that could help create more than 1,800 jobs (via the Gov Monitor).

Meanwhile, many residents are still dependent on unemployment checks, although a computer glitch has delayed help for 42,000 people, reports The Denver Post.
