Here in the Wild West, denim has never been considered a fashion faux pas. But after an absence of several seasons on the runways, designers have officially made the textile on-trend again for spring. With worn washes and denim-on-denim looks leading the way, here is my must-have list of what to buy and where to get it locally:

Work Balmain‘s tough-girl look with a pair of contrast, stitched motocross jeans (pictured). If you’re worried about the distressed areas ripping even more, ask to have them reinforced. Rockstar Biker Jean, $229, The Blues Jean Bar, 250 Fillmore St., 720-542-3756, or Streets at SouthGlenn, 2154 E. Commons Ave., 303-955-7634, thebluesjeanbar.com. Yes, the boyfriend jean has been around, but Prvcy‘s destroyed version combines a solid fit with soft, lightweight denim. Pair with a jean jacket and/or vest for a head-to-toe denim look à la Ralph Lauren. Prvcy Boyfriend Jean, $202, Rebel, 5910 S. University Blvd., 720-283-1004, shoprebel.com. Lightweight and super stretchy, the “jegging” is a hybrid of the skinny jean and that ’80s favorite, the legging. J Brand‘s indigo version is a great option for those looking to avoid this season’s worn washes. J Brand 901 Legging, $138, Blu, 3201 E. 2nd Ave., 720-941-8034. With warmer weather just around the corner, go for a stroll through the parks with a flirty denim frock. Throw on a cropped jean jacket and a pair of cowboy boots for some Western fun. (Check out D&G’s spring show). Celebrity Pink ruffle dress, $52, The Uncommon Thread, 3455 W. 32nd Ave., 303-635-6790, theuncommonthreadclothing.com. Shorts are a major trend all their own this season, but combine them with denim and you get the best of both. Choose from a pair of skinny Bermudas to wear with a belted oversize shirt or, if you’ve got the gams—and the nerve—a pair of short shorts. True Religion Sophie distressed Bermuda, $209, or True Religion Jess contrast-stitch shorts, $189, The Garment District, 2595 S. Colorado Blvd., 303-757-3371.
