It’s still growing.

The poker-playing bug has been hot for ages, but there’s still room for something new. Check out the inaugural event for the Colorado Poker Series. I’ve heard it’s selling out fast, so if you want to learn from the “Professor of Poker” himself, sign up for the two-hour lecture by Howard Lederer, card sharp and expert on Texas Hold ‘Em.

Later, after a reception and dinner — emceed by Les Shapiro — the Colorado Winter Poker Championship Tournament begins. Tournament director Matt Savage (director of the World Series of Poker) will lead the way. The event takes place at The Wildlife Experience, at Lincoln and Peoria near Parker.

All proceeds will be donated to YouthBiz, a leadership program for inner city youth. Tickets run from $100 for the seminar only, to $350 for the all-day event, or the “ultimate package” for $1495 — which includes a Friday night dinner at Del Frisco’s with all the hosts and local celebs.
