With rain in the forecast, hot soup is again on the menu. For a homespun bowl, check out the du jour offerings at Delizios, a bustling coffee, wine, and tapas bar that opened mid-March in Historic Downtown Littleton.

Go for the Italian wedding soup with tiny, tender meatballs, or indulge in the intensely creamy broccoli-cheese. Better yet, order a cup of soup and a half of the Merlot panino, which comes grilled and stacked with ham, pear, blue cheese, and a smear of house-made wine jam.

Did you know? Delizios was originally going to be a bakery and cookie shop. Owner Bob Mickus had planned to expand Beautiful Sweets, his organic designer-cookie business, when he changed course by adding savory items and wine to the menu. The cookies are still the showcase, though, so save room for dessert.
