As Denver police sought video from the Regional Transportation District bus that left the corner of Eighth and Lincoln avenues littered with glass and metal, professor Heidi Strang talked with news outlets about the couple killed in the Saturday accident.

Dustin Peletier and Carla Miranda were passionate animation artists and sweethearts who met as students at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. They had just bought a house together in Denver. Now, flowers mark the site of the crash, where witnesses say the RTD bus went through a red light, hitting their car and then a truck (via CBS4).

Four people, including the driver, remain in serious condition. Several others were hospitalized after the crash. Authorities still have not identified the bus driver, who was not an RTD employee but rather a worker contracted through Veolia Transporation, a company that provides drivers for about half of RTD’s buses, points out 7News.

Meanwhile, shortly before 6 p.m. Monday, a 78-year-old man was found lying in a gutter in Aurora with massive injuries after apparently being hit by an RTD bus’ back right tires (via 9News). About 30 minutes later, he died at an area hospital. RTD spokesman Scott Reed says the driver did not know he had hit a pedestrian. The bus was stopped near North Peoria and East 11th Avenue, about 2.5 miles away from the incident.
