At tax-day protest rallies across Colorado on Thursday, Republican political candidates and their campaign staffs came out to meet and greet voters, hoping to turn their anger into action against Democrats in the polls come November (via The Associated Press).

And, as if to drive the point home, Republican mastermind Karl Rove, a senior adviser to President George W. Bush and close friend of state GOP Chairman Dick Wadhams, will visit Lone Tree on Saturday.

Rove, born in Denver, is merely signing copies of his book, Courage and Consequence: My Life as a Conservative in the Fight, at a Barnes & Noble store, reports the Denver Business Journal, but some tea partiers are no doubt looking forward to the appearance.

Writing for The Wall Street Journal, Rove highlights the pain of paying taxes. Always important in politics, the tax issue is likely to “play a larger role this year than in any midterm election since 1994,” he predicts. “A recent Rasmussen survey reported that 66 percent of Americans believe the nation is over-taxed.”
