If you want to get beyond the social-media level of photography—you know, the ubiquitous shot of two friends leaning away from a self-held camera—a local series of classes can help you learn the techniques that elevate photographs to art.

This Saturday, Working With Artists presents one of its free monthly classes in its Talking Photography series. The topic of conversation is “Contemporary Photography: Where We Are & Where We Came From.”

Classes are held at various artistic hubs of photography exhibits. This talk will take place at the Museum of Contemporary Art from 1-4 p.m.

Can’t make it this Saturday? The next talk is scheduled for Saturday, June 5, at the Foothills Art Center. Classes are free, but you can save a spot by registering online.
