The Massive, Awesome Dreamliner Is Being Tested in Colorado

|

Perusing the design highlights of the largest jumbo jet ever, Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner, might actually get you excited about getting onto a plane again. The wide-bodied plane features several levels of LED lighting, tint-able windows, filters for cleaner air, and a calmer ride to combat air sickness. The big bird has been in Colorado Springs lately for a series of high-elevation tests, according to The Denver Post. The maiden flight for the 787 was back in December, and since then, four prototypes have been running the gamut. Some tests needed to be completed at high-altitude airports, and the one in the Springs sits at 6,200 feet above sea level. The tests follow other examinations on the same airplane over the weekend in Mesa, Arizona, at a low-elevation airport in hot weather, according to a Boeing news release.
