Not that you need another reason to take a hike on a Sunday afternoon, but Roxborough—our friendly state park to the south—has given us one. This Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. they’re hosting an Open House at the Historic Persse House. In the early 1900s, Henry Persse founded and developed Roxborough Park, with plans to build a resort before his untimely death. The area was turned into a state park in 1975, and Persse’s small house was maintained and renovated into a historical site. Hear more about the history of Persse and the park on Sunday, when volunteer naturalists will be out sharing information. Access the open house via the Fountain Valley Trail, which is 2.3 miles round-trip.
