Tonight: A Reading and Signing of “Be Thrifty”

|

The times, they have a’ changed. Upon graduating from college—eight seemingly long years ago—I was inundated with credit card offers. And despite the growing number of stories about twentysomethings moving home to live with their parents, I didn’t yet know anyone who had actually done it. There was an unspoken hope that the supposed trend would pass—and quickly.

Today, recent grads aren’t getting those card offers, and just about everyone knows a smart kid (or two) back at home.

Now that I teach college courses, I’ve been on the lookout for gifts for graduating students. When I read about tonight’s event at the Tattered Cover Book Store—a reading and signing of Be Thrifty: How to Live Better with Less—I made plans to attend and buy a few copies.

Be Thrifty‘s parenthetical, longer title is …Not Cheap!, which, despite the name of this blog, I appreciate. Author Califia Suntree, who also runs Spooningmag.com, presents a positive perspective on a range of financial topics, from wedding planning (I hear you) to grocery shopping and having children.

2526 E. Colfax Ave., beginning at 7:30 p.m.
