This is the final post in Cheap Thrills’ summer series with Grow Local Colorado, although we will continue to write about sustainable agriculture and urban gardening in this space. Want to get involved? Sign Grow Local’s pledge to support locally grown food.

Slow Food Denver represents almost all facets of our Grow Local, Know Local, Eat Local series. Its mission is all about supporting locally grown food, sustainable agriculture, and educating its members about food policy.

There are a few ways to get involved to learn more and participate.

First, on Thursday there’s a tasting and lecture at the Denver Botanic Gardens. The tasting starts at 6 p.m. Speaker and author Eugenia Bone’s talk, “The Kitchen Ecosystem,” begins at 7 p.m. Cost is $25 for non-members, $20 for Slow Food Denver members and Denver Botanic Gardens members, and $10 for students.

Also, every month Slow Food Denver hosts its farm-visit series, taking guests to farms to learn about locally grown food. Past tours have included dairy farms, bison ranches, and berry patches. The next visit, scheduled for August 28, is to Grant Family Farms in Wellington. Cost is $25 for non-members, $20 for members, and $15 for students. RSVP by e-mailing rsvp@slowfooddenver.org.
