Sarah Palin’s 3rd-District Pick

By |

Sarah Palin has made an endorsement in a political race in Colorado and, no, it’s not for Jane Norton, despite prior speculation that Palin might back her.

Rather, Palin is throwing her support to Bob McConnell, a Republican from Steamboat Springs who is challenging Scott Tipton in the August 10 primary for a chance to face the incumbent, Democrat John Salazar, in the general election for the 3rd Congressional District (via the Grand Junction Sentinel).

Palin writes on her Facebook page that McConnell, who identifies with the Tea Party, and another Republican, Paul Gosar of Arizona, are the right kind of conservatives—the type “who seek to limit government, protect our Second Amendment rights, respect the sanctity of life, support our strong military, and encourage free enterprise.” Palin’s political-action committee has placed Salazar on its list of 20 Dems to target.

For Norton’s part, her campaign manager, Josh Penry, tells The Denver Post they would “love to have” Palin’s endorsement “but aren’t sure whether she will formally wade in.”
