At last night’s sold-out Denver Burger Battle, 10 of the city’s best burger spots went head-to-head to see who had the ultimate offering. The eats were impressive, from Argyll‘s ground lamb and beef patty, duck fat confit onions, spicy tomato jam, ColoRouge cheese, and carrot-ginger aïoli to the In-N-Out Burger-style, double-patty sample from Old School Burgers.

Alas, the judges (Troy Guard of TAG, Alex Seidel of Fruition Restaurant, and James Rugile of Venue Bistro) deemed Park Burger as supreme. The crowd of 550-plus selected H BurgerCo as people’s choice (we think it was the sweetened bun and slab of roasted green chile that clenched the win).

The best news is that fans of Park Burger’s winning El Chilango burger (the satisfying combo of Harris Ranch beef, cheddar, jalapeños, and guacamole) can enjoy it at both the Platt Park location and at the newly opened Park and Co. in Uptown.

Bonus: We appreciated the shops that offered extras—crisp pickles from Encore on Colfax, steak fries from Deluxe Burger, cantaloupe agua fresca from Park Burger, and gastrique-drizzled chips from Argyll—alongside their burgers.
