Technology, entertainment, and design (TED, collectively) are three topics you’re likely to hear frequently discussed in the increasingly innovative hub of Boulder. But this Saturday, the volume on such conversations is going to be turned up a few notches, as the city hosts its first TEDx conference at Chautauqua Auditorium.

The “independently organized event” is a spin-off of the national and global ideas festivals produced by the nonprofit TED, which generally feature high-profile speakers like Al Gore on relevant topics that have since expanded beyond the original TED three to include issues like sustainability. (Watch past speakers for free on the TEDTalks video site.)

At $25, tickets for the Boulder conference are a coup, with 20 speakers and two musicians in the lineup. Don’t miss txteagle Inc. CEO Nathan Eagle, whose mobile apps are aiding people in the developing world to make money via their cell phones, and Denver design guru Rick Griffith, whose tenure in design and typography includes contributions to Dwell, Print, and Good Magazine, among others.

Bonus: Buy tickets today for entry to the TEDxBoulder Community Pre-party tonight at The Bitter Bar.
