Savor Sporting Luxury on the Little Snake

Three Forks Ranch hired renowned hydrologist Dave Rosgen—and spent $3.5 million—to make its 16 miles of the Little Snake River the best trout fishery in the West. Now, the ranch boasts a “25-inch club” of anglers who netted fish exceeding two feet long. To join them, book a room at Three Forks’ grandiose new lodge, opening June 1. Hand-carved European wood paneling, massive stone fireplaces, and plush linens make this an ultra-posh oasis in a wilderness teeming with trout.

Get there: From Steamboat Springs, take County Road 129 north for 30 miles, passing the former town of Columbine. Bear left at the fork and follow the gravel road 12 miles to the ranch.

Stay there: Rates start at $3,750 per person for an all-inclusive, three-night, two-day stay (no nightly bookings). 970-583-7396, www.threeforksranch.com

Relax: Reservations include massage and body treatments at the new spa, also opening June 1. —Kb
