Roller derby as a sport has been regaining the traction it once claimed in the 1970s, and the Rocky Mountain Rollergirls are doing their part to make sure Colorado stays relevant on the national scene. In fact, the squad tops Derby News Network’s power rankings, and the Rollergirls’ A-team, 5280 Fight Club, is the odds-on favorite to win this year’s Women’s Flat Track Derby Association championships in early November in Chicago, notes Westword.

The Rollergirls have recently added new firepower, including a former Fort Collins speed skater named Urrk’n Jerk’n As Booty Blockya and an Albuquerque transplant named Amanda Jamitinya—a duo that’s been turning heads at recent bouts. “There were a lot of jaws on the floor when they saw [Urrk’n Jerk’n] skate,” says Rollergirls spokeswoman PJ “Dangerous Leigh A’Zon” Shields. Don’t take her word for it. Watch Urrk’n Jerk’n in action below.

The next chance to check out the Rollergirls at home comes Saturday, when they’ll take on Pittsburgh’s Steel City Derby Demons at the Fillmore Auditorium.
