While some workers have the next couple of days off, Colorado’s sports teams aren’t so lucky. The Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, Denver Broncos, and University of Colorado Buffaloes football team are all in action over the next few days.

The Avs are up first, taking on the always-potent Vancouver Canucks tonight at the Pepsi Center, the first of three games over the next four days. The Avalanche are leading the Northwest Division with a 12-7-1 record, and Mile High Hockey points out that they’re doing well for a second straight year without any major off-season free-agent signings—and a young roster.

The Nuggets will suit up Friday and Sunday, hosting the Chicago Bulls and the Phoenix Suns, respectively. The Nuggets are also playing well, but at 8-6, they sit at eighth place in the Western Conference. Rumors have been relatively quiet on the Carmelo Anthony trade front, but USA Today reports that the homegrown Chauncey Billups could be traded by February so the team can unload his $14 million salary.

And then there are the hapless Denver Broncos, stuck in the basement of the AFC West with a 3-7 record. They’ll host the St. Louis Rams Sunday. The Rams were once a guaranteed win for the Broncos, but The Denver Post notes that the two teams have split the last four matchups.

Finally, the CU Buffs will travel to Lincoln to take on the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers in the most important game of the weekend. It’ll be a tall order against a good team, but if CU can win, they’ll become bowl-eligible. The Huskers are much better than the Buffs, but the game remains a rivalry, which has been played since 1898.
