Of the 500 hotels that Travel + Leisure magazine has selected as the best in the world, nine are in Colorado, including two in Denver. Hotel Teatro and Ritz-Carlton Denver come in at numbers seven and nine, respectively, on the state’s list, one of the longest in the nation behind predictable frontrunners like California, Hawaii, and New York (via the Denver Business Journal).

The Bavarian-themed Sonnenalp Resort in Vail tops the list of locals, followed by Aspen’s Little Nell, Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch of Avon, the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, St. Regis Aspen Resort, Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort & Spa, and Vail Cascade Resort & Spa. The number one hotel in the world is the Oberoi Vanyavilas of Rajasthan, India: 20 acres, including luxury tents, next to Ranthambore National Park & Tiger Reserve. The top hotel in the Unites States is number two on the world list: Triple Creek Ranch of Darby, Montana.
