The second largest dance company in the state, Ballet Nouveau Colorado, has been struggling for some time. After putting out a call in mid-summer 2010 that it was on the brink of financial failure, local and national troupes rallied to its side for a special benefit performance. While BNC has managed to hang on, the company has lost three executive directors in the past year, “a tumultuous period,” reports The Denver Post. Now, there is once again turnover at the top of the organization, but Christin Crampton Day, a public relations expert and former Colorado Ballet board member, seems up for the challenge. “I’m very collaborative, empowering, and strategic,” she says. “I enjoy the creative process and embrace change and innovation.”

Meanwhile, the 2011 Vail International Dance Festival is taking shape. The annual event, which is scheduled to take place this summer from July 31 to August 13, will feature 17 performances of “the world’s best dance,” writes the Vail Daily. The program includes Dance TV, a one-night show featuring the winners of America’s Best Dance Crew, SuperCr3w, and others who have appeared on various television programs.
