Earlier this week, I ran into Frank Bonanno, and he informed me that Wednesday’s Pie—his one-day-a-week pie shop—is in hot water with Village Inn.

As it turns out, the mega-chain has a promotion (called Pie Rush Wednesday) where guests dining on that day receive a free slice with any purchase. Apparently the corporation is concerned its customers might confuse the promotion with Bonanno’s teensy-weensy operation (which sells, at most, 10 pies from its Larimer Square outpost).

We highly doubt any confusion will arise—after all, there’s nothing about Wednesday’s Pie and Village Inn that remotely resemble one another. Bonanno has turned the matter over to his lawyer anyway.

Show Your Support: Next week, stop into Wednesday’s Pie (open 11 a.m. to sell out) and buy a slice—or eight. If you can’t wait that long, dip into the hand-crafted treats at either Green Russell or Lou’s Food Bar.
