Walter Isenberg, the CEO of Sage Hospitality, has decided not to jump into the fray of candidates running for mayor, ending months of speculation, reports Face the State. Read part of the email Isenberg sent to his employees at ColoradoPols. Chris Romer, who resigned from the state Senate to join the race, seemed relieved to hear the news, telling the Denver Post, “My focus is to earn this one vote at a time, and I’m pleased that I have one more name to add to my call sheet, and I hope to earn his support.” Romer will need it. At least 13 candidates are competing in the upcoming election, which will be held on May 3.

Endorsements are starting to roll in, and Romer’s looking good with 15 current state legislators on his list from both parties, writes the Colorado Independent, along with a growing list of well-known names, such as Norm Brownstein and Ken Gart. City Councilman Michael Hancock has also brought in some big names, including former House Speaker Terrance Carroll. Carol Boigon’s backers include former Democratic state Senate President Joan Fitzgerald and former U.S. Congresswoman Betsy Markey, a Fort Collins Democrat. James Mejia brings the endorsement of public relations specialist Andrew Hudson, among others.
