Considering the CU and CSU football teams were a combined 8-16 last season, the schools shouldn’t have expected much Wednesday during national signing day. But they came away much better than anticipated, committing 47 players between the two. The Fort Collins Coloradoan notes that CSU landed 27 players, including some of Colorado’s top-rated recruits.

CU was a bit behind the curve with a new coaching staff but nevertheless managed to sign 19 players (maybe 20), according to CUBuffs.com. New CU coach Jon Embree and his staff pulled off the coup in about 13 days, and eight of the 19 prospects were lured to CU after showing strong interest in other programs. Air Force also pulled in an impressive list of new players, with the Colorado Springs Gazette‘s unofficial count putting the total at nearly 40. While football receives the most attention on national signing day, HighSchoolSports.net has a complete list of the local athletes who have signed on to play various sports at colleges around the country.
