The Colorado Avalanche failed to win a third consecutive game last night at the Pepsi Center, falling 4-3 to the Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL.com). The state’s college teams, on the other hand, are giving hockey fans something to watch heading into the weekend’s national NCAA Tournament.

Colorado is the only state with three teams eligible to win the national championship (Denver Post). Colorado College and the Air Force Academy will begin the tournament today against the No. 1 seeds in their regionals (Boston College and Yale, respectively). The University of Denver kicks things off tomorrow in Green Bay, Wisconsin, against Western Michigan, a game DU is capable of winning.
