Cheese Importers‘ Market Europa and La Fromagerie in Longmont is one of the Front Range’s best-kept culinary secrets.

Tucked into a nondescript warehouse on South Pratt Parkway, the European-style market belies its industrial facade. One step inside the canopied front door and you’re captivated by the aromas wafting from the tiny cafe and a cheese collection—housed in a 2,000-square-foot refrigerated fromagerie—that spans the world.

Co-owner Linda White fell in love with everything European while studying in France many years ago with her husband, Lyman. Upon returning home to the Front Range, they began importing cheese on a very small scale. Today, Linda and her two children, Samm and Clara, do business with more than 300 discriminating restaurants, grocers, and buying clubs in Colorado.

True to the European spirit, they also carry an impressive selection of local products, such as Colorado cheeses, chocolates, breads, butter, and boutique honey (try the outstanding floral honey from the Niwot Honey Farm).

Tip: Don’t miss the cafe’s warm sandwich selection, starring the cranberry-walnut bread with melted Brie, green apples, and fresh arugula.
