Down at Scottsdale’s Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, the Colorado Rockies’ new spring training facility, coaches have placed 16 high-quality cameras throughout the complex, giving the team a newfound emphasis on video instruction (Denver Post). So chances are good the team has multiple hi-res angles of Saturday’s collision between third baseman Ian Stewart and outfielder Carlos Gonzalez, which left Stewart with a low-grade right MCL strain and CarGo with a bruised shin and a sprained ankle (Yahoo! Sports).

The Post’s Jim Armstrong talks to both players, noting that CarGo returns to action today, but Stewart will be out the rest of the week. The team can afford to let him heal since games don’t count until April. Still, that doesn’t mean we can’t express some optimism based on the Rockies’ record so far: The team has won its first two spring training games and sits atop the Cactus League standings (via MLB.com).
