As soon as the weather turns warm, I rise earlier on Saturday mornings in order to set off for a mountain hike. But the prompt start means I miss out on my favorite meal of the day: breakfast. If I stop for a leisurely bite, I’ll get caught in I-70 traffic snarls. So what’s an egg-loving girl supposed to do? The answer: Order a to-go breakfast sandwich from Udi’s Bread Cafe at Stapleton.

The family-friendly location is jam-packed on weekend mornings, but I can breeze in as early as 8 a.m. to pick up my called-in Classic sandwich order (scrambled eggs, sharp cheddar, and tangy aïoli—which I recommend on multigrain bread) and be back on the road in less than 10 minutes. It’s like a fast-food joint without the trans fat and with a lot more homemade goodness.

Tip: You can phone in an order for anything on the menu at all Udi’s locations.
