When Park & Co. opened in July 2010, it looked a lot like its sibling Park Burger. A year later, the Uptown spot has grown into itself.

Much of that is because chef-owner Jean-Philippe Failyau has rounded out the menu, expanding the options beyond bar food. The excellent Harris Ranch burgers still anchor the board, but I also like the variety of sandwich, salad (the Park Chopped with corn and goat cheese is especially noteworthy), and pasta options. The neighborhood must, too, because a quick survey of nearby tables revealed a mix of dishes.

One addition, in particular, stands out: the ahi burger topped with mashed avocado, pickled slaw, and a smear of ginger aïoli. For a sandwich that has become somewhat ubiquitous, Park & Co. does the tuna steak justice: The key is only searing the fish on one side so it’s never overcooked or dry.

Bonus: If you’re still hungry for dessert, don’t miss the Snickers bread pudding.
