If you find yourself headed north, detour to Longmont for dinner at the four-month-old Your Place or Vine. This casual small plate restaurant and wine bar in the Prospect neighborhood comes courtesy of owner David Smith.

Smith, a Longmont resident, was inspired by a cycling trip through Tuscany where he witnessed the relationship Italians have with their food and wine. He wanted to bring that sense of ease and comfort back to Colorado. The result? Your Place or Vine has an accessible wine list with 26 by-the-glass boutique pours, clear, concise tasting notes, and mix-and-match flights.

The selections pair well with chef Michael Wetzel’s (formerly of the Med in Boulder) small and straightforward menu of appetizers, salad, flatbreads, and desserts. Charred, thin-crust flatbreads are loaded with toppings such as chorizo with roasted red peppers and Manchego. And the salad, with perky Ollin Farms greens, comes tossed with sweet cherry tomatoes, sliced figs, and shaved pecorino, with a nicely balanced lemon vinaigrette. Top off the evening as the Italians do, with housemade biscotti and a glass of Vin Santo Piazzano.
