Sure, film festivals are supposed to be about the films…and big-name actors and directors. But isn’t it really about the parties? Attend one of the myriad receptions at the Starz Denver Film Festival, or take a look at our roundup of the best bashes around town. Now your only problem is deciding which ones to attend.

An Evening with Judy Greer OK, so this isn’t officially a “party,” but you get to watch a highlight reel of Greer’s hysterical career—our favorite role: Kitty Sanchez on Arrested Development—before she receives the 2011 John Cassavetes Award for her contribution to the filmmaking industry. (Nov. 4, 8:30 p.m.; Denver FilmCenter/Colfax)

Reel Social Club Party We’ve said it before: This is the mother of all basement parties, with DJs spinning, vintage video games from the 1Up scattered around, a Twister tournament, and an appearance by the Denver Roller Dolls. Oh, and did we mention the open bar? (Nov. 11, 8 p.m.-midnight; Knights of Columbus Hall)

The Last Picture Show Party Drown your sorrows about the end of film fest with a blowout shindig. Details are scarce (we always take that to mean it’ll be impressive), but this party’s going to be huge. Beforehand, catch one of the two final screenings: Choose between Thirteen Conversations About One Thing and The Big Chill. (Nov. 13, 7:30 p.m.; Starz FilmCenter)

Late Night Lounge The all-night, every-night party venue for the festival is a haven for night owls who want to stay out later than the bars are open. Mingle with stars and filmmakers as you munch on snacks and down a few Red Bull-and-vodkas—trust us, you’ll need ’em—from the open bar. (Open every day, 11 p.m.-4 a.m.)

Want to take a short break from the festival? We suggest Bingo. Every Monday at the Sputnik is free “Blingo” night—with a side of $1.50 PBRs. The restaurant gussies up the old-fashioned game with the chance to win free concert tickets. Next Monday, Roger Clyne and Mayhem are on the giveaway list. (Nov. 14, 9 p.m.; the Sputnik)
