Malty? Hoppy? Hops take a backseat to the fruity Belgian notes.

Reviewed: May 2012

As Great Divide puts it, their spring Saison, Colette, is the brewery’s homage to the beers that Belgian farmworkers have enjoyed for centuries. We agree. (Saison is French for season, and typically denotes Belgian-style golden ales that are dry and a little tart.) And as soon as temperatures in the Mile High City creep into the 70s and 80s, we crave Colette’s citrus-y flavors and crisp carbonation. The brew wafts pleasant notes of celery, straw, and Belgian yeast. Better yet, Colette saves the best for last: a subtle sour finish. We only wish it stuck around longer.

Would we buy it again? We already have. This brew is only available a few months each year. Stock up.
