Denverites are doggie obsessed; we adopt thousands of dogs every year. The city has dozens of canine parks. Heck, we even run races with our pooches. Sadly, half of all dogs over the age of two will have cancer in their lifetimes, and one in four will die from it. The Denver-based nonprofit Morris Animal Foundation hopes to help by spreading awareness about animals afflicted with cancer. The organization hosts family- and dog-friendly K9 Cancer Walks throughout the year to raise money for research and prevention. Sign up for the next race, set up your own fund-raising page in honor of your favorite pet, or donate at morrisanimalfoundation.org.
