When considering the menu at Ace Eat Serve, you likely focus on the bao buns or the shumai or a bowl of chow fun noodles. But I’m willing to bet that you don’t think to order dessert. You should: The nori caramel berry treat is worth saving room for—in fact, it’s worth a visit to Ace in itself.

The dessert—fresh berries glossed with caramel, a scoop of Sweet Action Ice Cream‘s yuzu sorbet, and a drizzle of lime leaf-infused cream—tastes refreshing and light. The key to this dish is the delicate and nuanced caramel: Executive chef Brandon Biederman infuses light caramel with seaweed (nori) and kosher salt to create a layered sauce that is more savory than cloying.

When combined with plump blackberries and strawberries and paired with tart yuzu sorbet and citrusy cream, the flavors function like a digestif in helping you feel less full—which is especially helpful if you’re gearing up for a game of ping pong.

Bonus: Stop by on a Tuesday to either play in or watch the weekly table tennis tournament. Registration begins at 6 p.m.; the tournament runs 6:30–8:30 p.m. All matches are singles.
